Review: "...Its exotically ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit, spicy notes and meaty texture will thrill fans of heady, powerhouse Zinfandels...." Linda Murphy, for the San Francisco Chronicle, September 29, 2006.

Rear label text: Attention to detail and respect for the vineyard's terroir are key to growing grapes. The vineyards of Rockpile produce wines that are not just about ripe and exotic fruit, but of a place, a taste of mineral, a taste of the sun, a taste of the rolling slopes and steep hillsides. When you have tasted Rockpile you have tasted the spirit and expression of this place. The Valdez Family wines truly reflect the passion one must have for the vineyard.

2004 Zinfandel, Lancel Creek Vineyard, Russian River Valley -Sold Out

16.5 % alcohol
100 cases
Harvest date: October 4, 2004
Bottled June 2, 2006
Bottle price: $35
Consulting winemaker, Jeff Cohn

Review: "...this wine is more nimble than the Rockpile bottling, with brighter fruit flavors and fresher acidity, thanks to the cool growing conditions in Russian River Valley..." Linda Murphy, for the San Francisco Chronicle, September 29, 2006.

Rear label text: Located on the rocky ridge in the cool climate of the Russian River, zinfandel struggles to reach the warm sun. This additional time on the vine has made the vines work a little harder, struggle a bit more and thus produce a grape with intensity and concentration. The Valdez Family wines truly reflect the passion one must have for the vineyard.

2005 Sauvignon Blanc, Kick Ranch, Sonoma County

14.3% alcohol
580 cases
Harvest dates: September 15, 23, 2005
Bottled February 21, 2006.
Bottle price: $23
Consulting winemaker, Paul Hobbs

Rear label text: Valdez Family Winery is the culmination of Ulises Valdez' journey from vineyard field worker to proprietor of wines among Sonoma County's finest. Great wines are indeed made in the vineyard, and this Sauvignon Blanc from two vineyards personally selected and nurtured by Ulises, is a reflection of the hard work, passion, and unequaled standards of Ulises as winegrower.

Review: "...Hobbs blended fruit from two Valdez-farmed vineyards, one in northern Alexander Valley and the other in Rincon Valley, north of Santa Rosa, for this bright, racy wine. Mineral, grapefruit, lime and melon aromas and flavors finish with very refreshing acidity..." Linda Murphy, San Francisco Chronicle, September 29, 2006
