2007 "LANCEL CREEK" ZINFANDEL - RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
The vineyards are planted on a beautiful rolling hillside near Occidental, a unique little town in Northwest Sonoma County. As unique as the nearby town, Ulises Valdez discovered a vineyard equally as unique with varied micro-climates and soils. On the very top of its ridge, was rich reddish soil with a southern sun exposure protected from the coastal winds that just cried out for Zinfandel. He surrendered to the cry and planted a couple of acres of the 100-year-old St. Peters cloned vines. The results are a delicately well-balanced Zinfandel, rich in varietal character, a tribute to the Valdez family passion for the vineyards.
