2007 "LANCEL CREEK" PINOT NOIR - RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
Planted on Pomar and 777 clones, this unique bench land vineyard rises above the cool valley fog synonymous with the "Russian River Valley", but still benefits from the maritime breezes that cool the hot summer air. The soil is a blend of rocky red shale and "Goldridge" or sandstone of loam, allowing for the soils to retain less water than if it were all "Goldrigde", offering prime growing conditions for Pinot Noir. A long steady growing season, and the Valdez Family passion for the vineyards artfully produces a Pinot Noir with intense varietal flavors, yet delicately balanced.
